San Francisco, USA – November 2025
AvLogix Solutions is proud to announce its role as Material Handling Systems (MHS) Design Consultant for the development of Building 626.1 at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The project is part of SFO’s West Field revitalisation, which aims to maximise the utility, productivity and efficiency of one of the region’s key freight hubs.
Working in partnership with Clark Construction and SCB as the design build contractor, AvLogix Solutions has been engaged to provide specialist cargo planning and MHS design expertise from the feasibility stage through to facility opening. The new facility will replace ageing infrastructure with a modern, high-performance cargo terminal capable of meeting current and future air freight demands.
AvLogix’s scope of work includes:
Defining user requirements and operational concepts (CONOPS)
Facility masterplanning and integration of MHS within the building design
Data modelling of cargo throughput and operational performance
Coordinating with SFO stakeholders, airline tenants, and the design /build team to align with operational, commercial and resilience goals
MHS Technical procurement
MHS Construction Supervision
The redevelopment of Building 626.1 is designed to improve cargo processing speed, optimise land use within the West Field precinct, and integrate emerging freight handling technologies. The project reflects SFO’s broader commitment to sustainable infrastructure, operational efficiency and supporting the growth of global trade through the Bay Area.
“We are excited to bring our global cargo planning and MHS expertise to such an important project,” said Jeff Read, Director and Principal Consultant at AvLogix. “Our focus is on delivering a fit-for-purpose, future-ready facility that supports SFO’s operational goals and long-term vision for its cargo precinct.”
With completion targeted for 2027, Building 626.1 will set a new benchmark for air freight facilities in the United States, combining advanced material handling systems with a sustainable, flexible design that supports operational excellence.
